Day 01Arrival in Dunhuang

Our guide will meet you outside the baggage claim area at dunhuang airport and transfer you to the hotel. You will experience a short camel-riding along the Echoing-sand dune to reach the crescent lake.

Descriptions:
Echoing-sand dune - the dune is formed by the pileup of drifting sand. Like a golden huge dragon, it extends about 40 kilometers from Mogao Grottoes in the east to the Danghe reservoir. It utters tremendous sound when it blows a gale; It murmurs when people slide down from the mountain top; So it gets its name Echoing-sand dune.
Crescent Lake - it is the fascinate wonder of desert. Encircled by the Echoing-sand dune, the crescent lake is a crystal clear lake with the shape of the crescent moon. It is like an emerald embedded in the golden sands. Although it is frequently attacked by squall and furious sand, the lake water is still limpid and sweet.

Day 02Dunhuang

Visit the Mogao Grottoes and the Dunhuang Museum.

Descriptions:

Dunhuang Museum - it houses as many as 4,000 cultural relics which can be divided into three parts. The first part mainly displays the documents discovered in the cave 17 of the Mogao Grottoes. The second part mainly exhibits the historical relics unearthed from the tombs of dynasties of the Han, the three kingdoms, the Jin, the Sui and the Tang. The third part shows the silk, brocade, tulle and voile, which provides materials and reference to the silk road.

Day 03Dunhuang

Visit the Yumen Pass, great wall of Han dynasty, Yadan natural landform and Yangguan Pass.

Descriptions:

Yumen Pass - it is located about 90 kilometers from northwest of Dunhuang. It is said that the jade of Hetian in the western regions was brought into the central plains through this pass; Hence it is called Yumen Pass (Jade Pass). In the Han Dynasty, the pass was the military strategic pass and significant passage of the ancient silk road.
Yangguan Pass - it is situated in the antique beach in the southwest of Dunhuang. Because it lies in the south of the Yumen Pass, it is named Yangguan Pass. Originally built during the reign of emperor Han Wudi, it is the door open to the western regions as well as the important pass of the silk road.
