GuangZhou
Guangzhou,
capital of Guangdong province, is one of China's main industrial
centers, covering an area of 7,434 square kilometers, and with a
population of over 8 million.
Guangzhou
stands at the confluence of the east river, west river and north river,
with its land sloping from north-east to south-west, and an alluvial
plain in the south and south-west parts. It adjoins the south china sea,
and is crisscross with rivers and streams. It has south subtropical
marine climate with an annual average temperature of 21.8 degree
celsius, rainfall of 1694 millimeters, and a frost-free period of 345
days. it's abundant in agricultural and aquatic resources. its mineral
resources include coal, salt, copper, iron, zinc, lead and limestone.
Guangzhou's
industry covers machinery, shipbuilding, textiles, sugar-refinery,
household electrical appliances, computers, petrochemicals, light
industrial products for daily use, rubberproducts
and garments. the guangzhou economic and technological development zone
situated in huangpu has already taken shape. guangzhou has advanced
agriculture, abounding in rice, sugarcanes, fruits, freshwater fish and
oil crops.
Guangzhou is communication hub of guangdong
province, with railways and highways radiating in all directions, and
convenient inland-water, coastal and ocean transport. huangpu is the
biggest seaport in the south, ranking fifth in volume of freight handled
in china. its airport stands also in the forefront in passenger
transport.
Guangzhou is south china's biggest
national-and-foreign-oriented city with flourishing commerce, and
china's chief foreign trade center as well. it's also china's famous
historical and cultural city. the city with long summer and no winter is
always green with flowers in bloom all the year round, hence reputed as
"flower city". its scenic spots and historical sites include guangxiao
temple, liurong temple and white clouds mountain scenic area etc.
Efforts
are being made to build guangzhou into an international metropolis
functioning primarily as the biggest financial, high-tech and light
industrial, as well as communication and transport center in south
china.

ShengZhen
Covering 2,020 square km with a population of 5 million, the
central-south Guangdong city of Shenzhen is a major trading port that
faces daya bay to the east and pearl river to the west and is adjacent
to hong kong to the south. shenzhen is the earliest special economic
zone to be opened in china to foreign investors. With a complete line of
facilities, it is also a rising tourist city where visa formalities
have been simplified to facilitate the entry of foreign visitors. a
variety of high-tech exhibitions take place in the city on an annual
basis. major attraction: “splendid china”, a miniature scenery park that
epitomizes the charms of the chinese landscape and cultural scene,
enabling the visitor to finish a tour of the country and see the
5,000-year chinese civilization in one day’s time; China folk culture village, where folkactivities
are held in 20-odd life-size replicas of villages of different ethic
backgrounds; window of the world is a park in which visitors can get a
glimpse of the world’s wondrous buildings, cultural ruins, natural
scenes and folk singers and dancers from various counties; wildlife zoo,
where there are nearly 3,000 animals in 150 species from all the
continents of the world; Xiangmihu summer resort is a large tourist and
recreational center where tropical garden scenes mingle imperceptibly
with ethnic buildings.
Ancestral Temple Of The Chen Family
Sitting on the seventh zhongshan road in guangzhou, it was first built in 1890, or the 16th year of qing emperor guangxu’s reign, with donations of the members of the chen family who lived in the 72 counties of guangdong province. covering a total area of 1.3 hectares, it is the largest, best preserved and best decorated ancient cluster of architectures in guangdong. The temple is especially renowned for its beautiful decorations, including wood carving, brick carving, pottery carving, stone carving, lime carving, brass and cast iron, grotto, new year painting, and so on. these artistic decorations are important cultural relics of which possessing great value of history, art, culture and science.
YueXiu Park

Guangzhou has an area of 84 hectares, consisting of three artificial
lakes and seven hillocks. Main scenic spots include zhenhai tower and
the sculpture of the five rams. Zhenhai tower is a 28-meter-high ming
building, with five storeies and commanding a bird’s-eye view of the
whole city. The sculpture of the five rams is the symbol of Guangzhou.
According to an ancient and beautiful legend, Guangzhou is also called
“city of rams”, or “goat city”.
